Whilst reading an article in today's " I "newspaper on visiting the Isle of Man, I discovered 2 interesting and important points.
1. The isle of man has its own currency (IOM pounds) which whilst equivalent to sterling on the island cannot be spent back home ! Spend it whilst you are there is the message
2. Photo ID MIGHT be required for the ferry according to the article. The website for steam packet states that a utility bill!! is an acceptable alternative to photo ID . Useful for me as I don't have photo driving licence and would prefer not to have to take my passport to a UK crown dependency.
Anyone else found a definitive answer?

UK coinage/notes are accepted on IOM but it is likely that any change given could be in IOM currency which is not legal tender over here (so shops are not bound to accept it) but it is not illegal either. Any unspent coins/notes might go in self service tills.
