Knockaloe Internment and Pilates!

Further reading in mondays "I" reveals that The Farm/Area? of Knockaloe and the village of Patrick was used during WW1 to intern 23,000 Germans,Austrians and Turks including Joseph Pilates who may(!) have used his time there to invent his popular form of exercise.

Photo ID required for Ferry! IOM pounds not transferable

Whilst reading an article in today's " I "newspaper on visiting the Isle of Man, I discovered 2 interesting and important points.

1. The isle of man has its own currency (IOM pounds) which whilst equivalent to sterling on the island cannot be spent back home ! Spend it whilst you are there is the message

2. Photo ID MIGHT be required for the ferry according to the article. The website for steam packet states that a utility bill!! is an acceptable alternative to photo ID . Useful for me as I don't have photo driving licence and would prefer not to have to take my passport to a UK  crown dependency.

Anyone else found a definitive answer?

Pre Trip Meeting, 3rd May in the Brunswick

All 7 intrepid explorers were present to enjoy the beer and finalise arrangements. 5 of us will travel from Liverpool at 11:15, Ian will travel via Heysham and Martin has not decided. It was agreed to swap mobile phone numbers and they are as below;

Shawn allocated to each of us his suggested food items and some discussion arose regarding where best to obtain these to allow for minimum carrying. Peter offered to contact the Farm to check what items the Farm Shop stocked, what opening hours applied and whether the staff would be prepared to set aside a small order for us to collect on arrival. The results of this enquiry will appear as a comment to this post.
