The Loire a Velo was great, despite the odd hiccup on the way. Weather good, scenery superb with much use of off-road or little used public roads, accommodation comfortable (even at Possonniere), food mostly excellent and, of course, exemplary company. I also appreciated the accuracy of the navigation particularly through city streets.
It may be a bit early to think of England 2015 (but I can't resist) and it occurred to me that there may be some value in finding an area unfamiliar to us, staying at one location and doing a number of circular rides. This has the advantages that, in inclement weather (wot!! In England?), we could cut short the ride or even take to the buses/trains, we could travel lighter and maybe there would be some economies of scale.

ReplyDeleteIwould agree next year in England or borders of Scotland with a base for circular rides
Thanks Shawn, not sure whether I am a Friend or a Circle but got to the pictures eventually, and even managed to download some - in fact most of them.
DeleteYorkshire , Northumberland perhaps?
ReplyDeleteA good ride and good company - Thanks Shawn for the pics.
ReplyDeleteYes, thanks for the pics, Shawn. They arrived in Sylvie's email inbox - I don't understand that at all! Excellent ride - after initial misgivings about my health, it may have been a turning point in my cycling career! I have some pics, many of dubious quality, but I will have to wait till I get back to Blighty before I do owt with them. That's an interesting idea, Peter. I'll try to think of some places.
ReplyDeletePictures received today. Thanks, Shawn. My wife saw the photos of "that boat" and though it was all rather splendid, apart from the gangplank.
